About The Position

The Associate I, Retail Sales Cashier provides welcoming, timely, and professional customer service; assists customers with questions and purchases; and maintains a clean, organized, and well-stocked sales floor. The role operates a computer-based point-of-sale system, verifies till counts, processes accurate transactions, and maintains a balanced cash drawer. It also supports the customer roundup initiative by explaining the mission it supports.

The position completes opening and closing procedures, maintains the POS area, sales floor, and restrooms, follows retail and safety policies, and may cross-train or provide backup in other areas. Duties may include additional responsibilities as required. The role requires a varied schedule, including weekends, evenings, and holidays, with occasional overtime as necessary.

Requirements

• Accurately handle numbers and basic calculations and understand the value of coins and U.S. currency.
• Use basic math, including addition, subtraction, and multiplication.
• Communicate effectively with customers, managers, supervisors, staff, and peers.
• Operate a computer-based cash register and credit card machine.
• Withstand prolonged standing, bending, and lifting for up to eight hours per day.
• Have color vision sufficient for accurate transactions.
• Work a varied schedule that includes weekends, evenings, and holidays, with occasional overtime as necessary.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year of retail sales or cash-handling experience.

Responsibilities

• Verify till counts, process accurate cashier transactions, and maintain a balanced cash drawer using a computer-based point-of-sale system.
• Engage customers in the roundup initiative and share information about the mission it supports.
• Provide excellent customer service in keeping with company values.
• Assist customers with questions, concerns, and purchases.
• Complete opening and closing procedures.
• Keep the sales floor clean and organized by cleaning and arranging shelves and racks, picking up items, putting away products, and returning unwanted or returned items to their proper locations.
• Maintain a safe, clean, organized, and well-stocked POS area, sales floor, and restrooms.
• Make customer delight/power hour announcements over the intercom to organize and clean the sales floor.
• Follow retail center policies, procedures, and safety processes.
• Cross-train in other departments or areas and provide backup as required.
• Perform additional duties as required.
