About The Position

The Associate I, Retail Sales Cashier provides welcoming, timely, and professional customer service while helping maintain a well-stocked and organized sales floor. The role operates a computer-based point-of-sale (POS) system to ensure accurate product pricing and transactions, verify till counts, and maintain a balanced cash drawer. Associates also support the company’s roundup initiative by explaining the mission it supports and engaging customers.

The position includes opening and closing procedures, maintaining clean and organized POS areas, sales floors, and restrooms, and following retail-center and safety policies. Associates may be cross-trained in other departments and provide backup support as needed. Duties may extend beyond those listed.

This is a part-time position with a stated pay rate of $16.51 per hour. The schedule varies and may include weekends, evenings, holidays, and occasional overtime. The role involves prolonged standing, bending, and lifting, as well as other physical activities described in the posting.

Requirements

• Be accurate with numbers and general calculations, and understand the value of coins and United States currency.
• Use basic math, including addition, subtraction, and multiplication.
• Communicate effectively with customers, managers, supervisors, staff, and peers.
• Operate a computer-based cash register and credit card machine.
• Withstand prolonged standing, bending, and lifting for up to eight hours per day.
• Have the ability to see color for accurate transactions.
• Work a varied schedule that may include weekends, evenings, and holidays, with occasional overtime as necessary.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year of retail sales or cash handling experience.

Responsibilities

• Verify till counts, process accurate cashier transactions, and maintain a balanced cash drawer using a computer-based POS system.
• Promote the roundup initiative by engaging customers and sharing information about the mission it supports.
• Provide excellent customer service in keeping with company values.
• Assist customers with questions, concerns, and purchases.
• Complete opening and closing procedures.
• Keep the sales floor clean and organized by cleaning shelves and racks, picking items up from the floor, putting away products, and returning unwanted or returned items to their proper place.
• Maintain a safe, clean, organized, and well-stocked POS area, sales floor, and restrooms.
• Make customer delight/power hour announcements over the intercom to organize and clean the sales floor.
• Follow retail center policies, procedures, and safety processes.
• Cross-train in other departments or areas and provide backup support as required.
