About The Position

The T&D Associate Estimator I performs a variety of tasks to develop cost estimates for transmission, distribution, and substation projects and participates in an extensive training program to develop estimating skills. The role supports estimating throughout the project lifecycle, from bid preparation and review through change orders and project close-out. Essential duties are performed at a company-designated office or field location, and the position requires travel for field walks and site visits, which may include overnight stays. The employee is expected to comply with the Company's Code of Business Conduct and Ethics Policy and applicable professional and ethical standards.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Proficiency in Microsoft applications, with emphasis on Excel.
Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and changing priorities.
Ability to work under time pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude.
Ability to be self-motivated, proactive, and an effective team player.
Ability to interact effectively and professionally with employees at all levels, vendors, clients, and others.
Strong problem-solving skills.

Ability to understand or basic knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, proposals, and other documentation used to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates for projects and services.

Responsibilities

Prepare or assist in preparing complete cost estimates for transmission, distribution, and substation projects.
Plan and execute work to meet customer-defined submission deadlines.
Schedule and attend field job walks with customers, subcontractors, and construction personnel to determine constructability requirements.
Attend on-site pre-bid meetings and perform job-site visits, including travel that may require overnight stays.
Perform or assist with take-offs and evaluations for estimate preparation.
Solicit material vendor pricing and subcontractor proposals, including assembling and distributing project documentation in RFQ/RFP packages.
Compare project documents for accuracy and consistency.
Participate in estimate review processes with internal and external stakeholders.
Assist construction personnel throughout the project lifecycle in tracking and understanding the basis of cost estimates.
Assist in preparing and submitting change orders.
Participate in project close-out meetings to address outstanding estimating items.
Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
Perform other duties as assigned.
