About The Position

This position is responsible for designing and maintaining media guides, game programs, and departmental websites. It also involves updating, maintaining, and reporting conference/national level statistical records using a computerized statistical program. The role requires responding to media requests regarding local, regional, and national level events, and traveling with teams to handle media relations. Additionally, the position involves monitoring and posting on team and department social media platforms, nominating and promoting University teams, coaches, and players for awards/honors, and writing and submitting information for the press in local, national, and regional publications. Finally, it includes managing the scheduling and payroll functions of the statistics crew for game day operations/management.

Requirements

  • Requires a relevant Bachelor's Degree.
  • Requires a minimum of 4 years of experience in public relations and media communications for athletic events.
  • Strong computer skills including word processing, spreadsheet, and desktop publishing capabilities required.
  • Ability to record and interpret sports statistics required.
  • Knowledge of all sports and related NCAA rules and regulations is required.

Responsibilities

  • Design and maintain media guides, game programs, and departmental websites.

  • Respond to requests from media regarding local, regional, and national level events.
  • Travel with teams to handle media relations while serving as an intermediary between the University's athletic programs and the media/public.

  • Write and submit information for the press in local, national, and regional publications.
