About the position
We are hiring an Associate Data Scientist to join our team at KoBold Metals Zambia. In this role, you will be responsible for developing software and building a geospatial dataset to support our machine learning driven exploration program for battery metals. You will work closely with a team of data scientists, geoscientists, and software engineers to integrate data into our databases, perform quality assurance and exploratory data analysis using Python. Additionally, you will contribute to our codebase by developing novel algorithms to accelerate data ingestion and transformation. Your work will play a crucial role in helping us achieve our mission of discovering and developing mineral resources more efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Process and integrate data into well-structured, curated, proprietary databases (TerraShed®) using Python
- Explore and assess the quality of geophysical, geochemical, geologic, and other geospatial data from around the world
- Analyze data to identify potential measurement errors, missing data, inconsistencies with other datasets
- Work on an exploration project team and help Geologists discover pertinent geospatial insights from datasets
- Work with other Data Scientists to build predictive models for exploration purposes
Requirements
- Proficiency in Python for data processing and integration into databases
- Experience in analyzing geophysical, geochemical, geologic, and other geospatial data
- Ability to identify potential measurement errors, missing data, and inconsistencies in datasets
- Collaboration skills to work with geologists and other data scientists in exploration projects
- Knowledge of building predictive models for exploration purposes
