Associate Attorney
About The Position
QPWB is seeking a Florida-licensed attorney with experience in general liability defense to join its General Liability Practice Group. The role involves defending a range of general liability claims, including premises liability and professional lines such as medical malpractice and assisted living or long-term care. The attorney will work to move cases through the legal system and vigorously defend clients’ interests. The practice group represents employers, carriers, third-party administrators, and self-insureds from initial claims handling through mediation, arbitration, trial, and appeal.
Requirements
- Admission to practice law in Florida.
- Three to five years of experience in general liability defense.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills to navigate complex legal issues.
- Excellent research abilities and strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to draft and respond to discovery-related motions.
- Ability to regularly attend court appearances.
- Ability to take and defend depositions of fact witnesses and expert witnesses.
- Ability to draft motions for summary judgment.
Responsibilities
- Review and prepare summaries of medical records to advocate for clients.
- Draft motions and attend hearings and court appearances.
- Prepare clients for depositions and attend depositions as needed.
- Draft initial, interim, and pre-trial reports.
- Handle trials and appellate activity.
- Respond to discovery requests and draft discovery-related motions.
- Take and defend depositions of fact witnesses and expert witnesses.
- Draft motions for summary judgment.
