About The Position

Knight Law Group is seeking mid-level litigation associates to work onsite in the Century City office. A successful candidate will have 1 to 5 years of litigation experience and will demonstrate a desire to serve the public interest by advocating on behalf of California consumers pursuing claims against car manufacturers and car dealers. The position calls for a hardworking, dedicated, and nimble attorney who is interested in aggressive discovery-driven litigation tactics and able to navigate competing priorities and the needs of multiple stakeholders, both internal and firm clients. Knight Law Group offers a unique opportunity for an attorney to get immediate experience in multiple phases of litigation, including written discovery, law & motion, oral argument, depositions, and trial preparation. This role will work closely with and receive mentorship from Knight Law Partners and Senior Attorneys, and a stellar candidate will also have the opportunity to quickly grow into assisting in higher-stakes depositions, trial preparation work, and second-chairing trials.

Requirements

  • J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school
  • Member in good standing of the California Bar
  • At least 1 to 5 years of litigation experience as a California-licensed attorney
  • Genuine interest in consumer protection and representation
  • Hunger for professional growth, with a “no job is too big or too small” mentality
  • Collaborative and willing to operate in a team-oriented environment
  • Proficient in MS Office, Westlaw, and Outlook
  • Skilled and decisive problem-solver with the ability to unravel complex issues
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to track and comply with deadlines in a busy and fast-paced environment
  • Willing to learn and apply technology solutions and work in a paperless environment
  • Willing to travel within California as needed for court appearances, vehicle inspections, and depositions
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual Spanish is preferred, but not required

Responsibilities

  • Drafting written discovery, reviewing responses and document productions, participating in e-discovery review of documents
  • Drafting motions related to written discovery disputes, responses to pleading challenges, oppositions to Motions for Summary Adjudication, and other motions in furtherance of our client’s claims against car manufacturers and dealers
  • Preparing for and participating in oral arguments in various courtrooms relating to discovery disputes, pleading challenges, case management conferences, summary judgment motions, and ex parte requests
  • Preparing clients and defending consumer client depositions
  • Deposing percipient witnesses
  • Deposing corporate representative - defense witnesses
  • Preparing expert witnesses and attending expert depositions
  • Attending vehicle inspections with expert witnesses
  • Assume responsibility for timely reporting and billing for hours worked
  • Assist in other tasks as assigned by the Partners
