The project manager leads utility-scale generation and related infrastructure projects from development through construction, commissioning, and turnover. The role directs contractors, subcontractors, consultants, suppliers, and internal resources while managing scope, schedule, finances, contracts, risk, quality, safety, permitting, and regulatory compliance. Financial responsibilities include budgeting, forecasting, commitments, invoice review, accruals, contingencies, change orders, and cost reporting. The position coordinates technical and commercial decisions, maintains stakeholder relationships, reports project performance, and implements corrective actions to achieve approved business objectives. This is a fast-paced, initiative-driven role managing multiple complex utility-scale projects simultaneously, typically ranging from $100 million to $700 million. It requires resilience, sound judgment, decisive leadership, and consistent execution. Projects are located across Iowa and the company’s service territory, and regular travel to construction sites is required, typically 50% of the time. MidAmerican Energy Company provides regulated electric and natural gas service to more than 1.6 million customers in Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska, and South Dakota. It owns and operates power-generating assets, approximately 61% of which are wind generation.
