About The Position

The Toddler Assistant Teacher supports the Lead Teacher in implementing activities that promote the physical, mental, and social development of children ages 2–3. The role involves helping create a safe, fun environment where children can build confidence and skills, and fostering positive relationships with children, families, staff, and school personnel. The Assistant Teacher works in a busy environment and is supervised by the Early Learning Area Director and Site Coordinator.

Requirements

Experience working with children from birth through preschool.
Be at least 18 years of age.
Ability to remain poised, positive, and energetic in a busy work environment.
Ability to plan and manage multiple tasks and develop solutions to problems.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

State Initial Certificate.
30-Hour STARS Certificate.
Tuberculosis test.
CPR/First Aid card.
Blood Borne Pathogens training.
Food Handler’s card.

Responsibilities

Implement activities that meet children’s physical, emotional, intellectual, and social needs and align with the organization’s mission and priority outcomes.
Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet children’s varying needs and interests.
Establish a program setting that ensures the health and safety of members.
Maintain classroom cleanliness and manage program supplies.
Ensure compliance with Washington State Administrative Codes and follow best practices.
Attend required meetings and trainings to maintain and improve professional competence.
Perform other duties as assigned.
