About The Position

This opportunity is for a new graduate in 2027 to join ARCO Design/Build as an Assistant Superintendent. The role is designed for individuals who enjoy hands-on work, problem-solving in the field, and overseeing construction projects. ARCO Design/Build is a top design/build construction firm focused on developing future industry leaders. As an Assistant Superintendent, you will gain exposure to the full project lifecycle, working alongside experienced professionals. The role involves attending preconstruction planning meetings, assisting with project scheduling, overseeing daily construction activities, coordinating subcontractors, managing materials and equipment, tracking progress and costs, communicating with owners and design teams, leading jobsite meetings, maintaining documentation, and enforcing safety programs. Collaboration with Project Managers and field teams is essential for successful project delivery.

Requirements

  • Recent or soon-to-be graduate of an accredited Civil, Mechanical, Architectural, Construction Management, Building Science, or Construction Engineering undergraduate or graduate program (other related engineering majors will be considered).
  • A strong interest in the construction process, specifically design/build, tilt-up concrete, industrial builds, etc.
  • Possess and maintain a current, valid driver’s license in your state of residence.
  • Proficiency using Word, Excel, Outlook and Microsoft Project.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in construction preferred, but not required.
  • GPA 3.0 or higher preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Attend post-award meetings to review project details and assist with construction planning.
  • Work with the Project Manager to develop construction schedules, sequencing, staffing plans, and equipment needs.
  • Oversee daily construction activities to ensure work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and according to project specifications.
  • Manage subcontractor activities, communicate schedule updates, and ensure work is properly coordinated across trades.
  • Assist with material deliveries, equipment coordination, shop drawing approvals, and material submittals.
  • Help prepare job progress reports, review field purchase orders and invoices, and monitor project costs.
  • Maintain regular communication with owners, architects, and project stakeholders regarding project progress and field activities.
  • Lead and participate in jobsite coordination meetings with project managers, regional managers, subcontractors, and other project team members.
  • Maintain accurate daily reports and jobsite records, including project activities, site conditions, visitors, and key project decisions.
  • Promote and enforce the company's safety program while maintaining a safe, productive jobsite for all team members.
  • Partner with Project Managers and field teams to understand how office and field operations work together to successfully deliver projects.
