About The Position

The Assistant Store Manager leads daily sales-floor operations at a Goodwill of Central and Northern Arizona (GCNA) retail store and assists with production-room leadership as appropriate. The role supports Goodwill’s mission of ending unemployment and helps achieve operational and financial goals through people leadership, customer service, financial management, inventory control, donation processing, and Team Member training and development. The position is based at 6161 W Bell Rd, Glendale, Arizona 85308. Starting pay is $47,000 annually, with eligibility for a monthly performance bonus of up to $1,000 based on performance goals. The Assistant Store Manager is a key holder, closing shift manager, and backup to the Store Manager. The role may require travel to other GCNA locations for operational support and training, and transfers to different stores may occur in response to business needs. A comprehensive Total Rewards package becomes available on the first day of the month following 60 days of employment.

Requirements

One year of work experience in retail management.
One year of customer service experience.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to pass a background check and drug screen, where applicable for the position.
Ability to speak and read English proficiently.

Responsibilities

Develop and execute retail operations plans to achieve daily, monthly, quarterly, and yearly operating income, revenue, and production goals.
Monitor product levels, including floor work, as-is, recycle, trash, and seasonal back stock, to meet sales budget targets.
Manage payroll and operating costs within budget.
Ensure Team Members provide excellent customer service to donors and customers, and de-escalate customer situations toward appropriate solutions.
Maintain clean, well-kept store locations that appropriately reflect the Goodwill brand.
Partner with community businesses and organizations to promote the Goodwill mission and serve as a Goodwill ambassador to the community.
Lead day-to-day sales-floor operations and ensure Retail Store Associates and the Customer Service Manager are trained and fulfill their responsibilities.
Serve as a store key holder, closing shift manager, and backup to the Store Manager.
Process complex sales transactions, including customer returns.
Ensure Team Members follow company standards and procedures.
Travel to other GCNA locations to assist stores and attend personal training and development classes; transfer to different stores as business needs require.
Partner with support areas such as Asset Protection, Human Resources, Safety, and Finance to further business goals and ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations.
Build a high-performing team and manage performance, including coaching, discipline, performance improvement plans, annual reviews, staffing, compensation, and Team Member development.
Support company culture-change efforts and change-management processes.
