About The Position

The Assistant Store Manager assists the Store Manager with daily retail store operations, supporting sales and profitability through merchandising, expense and inventory management, employee training and development, human resources activities, and outstanding customer service. The role is responsible for the quality and performance of store staff, compliance with company policies and operational standards, and helping the store meet its goals. The standard work week does not exceed 40 hours. A flexible schedule is required, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays. The employee may work in multiple stores within the assigned district and must have reliable transportation and be willing to travel by car, plane, or train.

Requirements

At least one year of retail management experience.
Solid knowledge of business and excellent command of English for communicating with management, associates, and customers.
Strong interpersonal skills, including poise, tact, and diplomacy when handling sensitive or confidential situations.
Ability to think strategically, plan, and organize effectively.
Professionalism in all situations.
Analytical ability to gather and summarize data for reports, solve administrative problems, and prioritize work.
Results-driven approach with critical and creative thinking skills.
Project management, time management, analytical, and organizational skills.
Ability to exercise discretion, maintain confidentiality, and use independent judgment, compassion, and diplomacy.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
Willingness to work in multiple stores in the assigned district.
Ability to stand for extended periods and lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
Ability to work extended hours during critical project phases and in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with flexibility.
Reliable transportation.
Willingness to travel by car, plane, or train.
Availability for a flexible schedule that includes days, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

Oversee the quality and performance of retail store staff.
Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
Model effective leadership to gain commitment to store goals and training standards.
Assist with recruiting, selecting, training, and developing store personnel.
Assist the Store Manager and provide feedback on annual performance evaluations for store employees.
Assist with expense management and develop strategies to support budgeted store performance.
Help monitor and identify loss or inventory inconsistencies and support shrink goals at or below the company plan.
Monitor and control operational compliance, safety, and business standards.
Support employee training in suggested selling and merchandising techniques.
Uphold customer service standards and provide a friendly environment so customers receive outstanding service.
Assist with accurate and regular merchandise inventory counts.
Perform other duties as assigned.
