About The Position

Divers Direct is seeking an energetic, passionate, customer-focused Assistant Store Manager with an interest in diving, the ocean, watersports, and adventure. The Assistant Manager helps the General Manager with the overall operation of the store, including sales generation and tracking, guest satisfaction, employee management and development, merchandising, and inventory control. The position includes managing sales goals, supporting and developing staff, resolving customer service issues, assisting with merchandising and inventory, completing administrative duties, and maintaining store security and upkeep. The Assistant Manager may fill cylinders and perform inspections and compressor maintenance after completing company-sponsored training, and must be familiar with the manager’s duties when covering the General Manager’s absence. The role requires a flexible schedule based on retail needs and availability to assist at other stores as needed. Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age.
High school diploma or GED required.
Three years of retail sales or related experience.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong visual and conceptual merchandising skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Ability and willingness to work collaboratively with a diverse group of internal and external customers and vendors.
General understanding of personal computer operation.
Must be available to travel to and assist at other stores as needed.
Must be able to work a flexible schedule as dictated by retail needs.
Must work on their feet 100% of the time.
Ability to bend and squat.
Ability to lift and carry 40 or more pounds regularly.
Ability to climb ladders and access all areas of the store.
Ability to read, write, count, and perform basic arithmetic.
Must test negative on a pre-employment drug test; employees may be subject to additional drug and/or alcohol testing under company policy.

Nice To Haves

College degree preferred.
Certified Scuba Diver or Dive Instructor highly desirable. If not currently certified, must complete at least the academic requirements of a scuba course within the first 90 days of employment.
Experience or strong interest in paddling, kayaking, freediving, and other water sports is highly desirable for product and activity knowledge.
A combination of education, certifications, and work experience may be qualifying.

Responsibilities

Know and complete, and supervise, all duties of a Sales Associate.
Manage and meet sales goals for oneself and associates.
Ensure customer service standards are met and resolve complex issues.
Recruit, train, develop, and communicate with staff, and assess performance regularly.
Track employee performance and provide coaching as needed.
Track customer satisfaction and implement remedies when needed.
Assist with merchandising functions.
Assist with inventory control, including verifying shipments.
Complete administrative duties.
Ensure store security and maintenance.
Fill cylinders and conduct inspections after completing company-sponsored training.
Provide compressor maintenance after completing company-sponsored training.
Be familiar with and perform manager duties in the General Manager’s absence.
Adhere to company policies, procedures, and practices.
Perform other tasks as assigned by the General Manager or designee.
Travel to and assist at other stores as needed.
