About The Position

The Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in daily retail store operations to help maximize sales and profitability. The role includes executing merchandising plans, managing expenses and inventory, training and developing the store team, supporting human resources activities, and providing outstanding customer service. The position is responsible for staff performance and policy compliance, and helps ensure the store meets its operational, safety, business, and shrink goals. The standard work week does not exceed 40 hours. A flexible schedule is required, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays. The role may involve working in multiple stores within the assigned district and travel by car, plane, or train.

Requirements

At least one year of retail management experience.
Solid knowledge of business and excellent command of English to communicate effectively with management, associates, and customers.
Strong interpersonal skills, including poise, tact, and diplomacy when handling sensitive and confidential situations.
Ability to think strategically and plan and organize effectively.
Professionalism in all situations.
Analytical ability to gather and summarize data for reports, solve administrative problems, and prioritize work.
Results-driven approach with critical and creative thinking, project management, time management, analytical, and organizational skills.
Ability to exercise discretion, maintain confidentiality, and use independent judgment, compassion, and diplomacy.
Ability to plan, organize, multitask, prioritize, and respond proactively to changing demands from multiple sources.
Ability to execute directives precisely and consistently.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
Willingness to work in multiple stores in the assigned district.
Ability to stand for extended periods and lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
Ability to work extended hours during critical project phases and in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with flexibility.
Reliable transportation.
Willingness to travel by car, plane, or train.

Responsibilities

Support the Store Manager in daily store operations and efforts to maximize sales and profitability.
Oversee the quality and performance of retail store staff.
Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
Model effective leadership to build commitment to store goals and training standards.
Assist with recruiting, selecting, training, and developing store personnel.
Assist the Store Manager and provide feedback on annual performance evaluations for store employees.
Assist with expense management and develop strategies to help stores meet budget expectations.
Help monitor and identify loss or inventory inconsistencies to support shrink goals at or below company plan.
Monitor and control operational compliance, safety, and business standards.
Support employee training in suggested selling and merchandising techniques.
Help uphold customer service standards and provide a friendly environment for customers.
Assist with accurate and regular merchandise inventory counts.
Perform other duties as assigned.
