About The Position

The Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in the daily operations of a retail store, helping ensure maximum sales and profitability through merchandising execution, expense and inventory management, team training and development, human resources management, and outstanding customer service. The role is responsible for the quality and performance of store staff, compliance with company policies and procedures, operational standards, and achievement of store goals. The standard work week does not exceed 40 hours. A flexible schedule is required, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays. The position may involve working in multiple stores within the assigned district.

Requirements

At least one year of retail management experience.
Solid knowledge of business and excellent command of English for communicating with management, associates, and customers.
Strong interpersonal skills, including poise, tact, and diplomacy when handling sensitive and confidential situations.
Ability to think strategically and plan and organize effectively.
Professionalism in all situations.
Analytical ability to gather and summarize data for reports, solve administrative problems, and prioritize work.
Results-driven approach with critical and creative thinking, project management, time management, analytical, and organizational skills.
Ability to exercise discretion, maintain confidentiality, and use independent judgment, compassion, and diplomacy.
Ability to plan, organize, multitask, set priorities, and respond proactively to changing demands from multiple sources.
Ability to execute directives precisely and consistently.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
Willingness to work in multiple stores in the assigned district.
Ability to stand for extended periods and lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
Ability to work extended hours during critical project phases and in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with flexibility.
Reliable transportation.
Willingness to travel by car, plane, or train.
Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include days, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

Oversee the overall quality and performance of retail store staff.
Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
Model effective leadership to gain commitment to store goals and training standards.
Assist with recruitment, selection, training, and development of store personnel.
Assist the Store Manager and provide feedback on annual performance evaluations for store employees.
Assist with expense management and develop strategies to help the store perform in accordance with its budget.
Help monitor and identify issues related to store loss or inconsistencies, supporting shrink goals at or below the company plan.
Monitor and control operational compliance, safety, and business standards.
Support employee training in suggested selling and merchandising techniques.
Uphold customer service standards and provide a friendly environment in which customers receive outstanding service.
Assist with accurate and regular merchandise inventory counts.
Perform other assigned duties.
