About The Position

The Assistant Store Manager assists the Store Manager with daily retail store operations to support sales and profitability through merchandising execution, expense and inventory management, employee training and development, human resources management, and outstanding customer service. The role is responsible for the quality and performance of store staff, compliance with company policies and procedures, operational safety and business standards, and helping the store meet its goals. The position may require work across multiple stores in the assigned district. The standard work week is not to exceed 40 hours, with a flexible schedule that may include days, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements

• At least one year of retail management experience.
• Solid knowledge of business and excellent command of English to communicate effectively with management, associates, and customers.
• Strong interpersonal skills, including poise, tact, diplomacy, and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations.
• Ability to think strategically and plan and organize effectively.
• Professionalism in all situations.
• Proficient analytical ability to gather and summarize data for reports, solve administrative problems, and prioritize work.
• Results-driven, with critical and creative thinking, project management, time management, analytical, and organizational skills.
• Ability to exercise discretion, maintain confidentiality, and use independent judgment, compassion, and diplomacy.
• Ability to plan, organize, multitask, set priorities, and respond proactively to changing demands from multiple sources.
• Ability to execute directives precisely and consistently.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work extended hours during critical project phases and in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with flexibility.
• Reliable transportation.
• Willingness to travel by car, plane, or train.

Responsibilities

• Help uphold daily store operations and support sales and profitability through merchandising execution, expense and inventory management, team development, human resources management, and customer service.
• Take responsibility for the overall quality and performance of retail store staff.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
• Model effective leadership to gain commitment to store goals and training standards.
• Assist with recruiting, selecting, training, and developing store personnel.
• Assist with and provide feedback to the Store Manager on annual performance evaluations for store employees.
• Assist with expense management and develop strategies to help stores perform within budget.
• Help monitor and identify loss or inventory inconsistencies so the store meets shrink goals at or below company plan.
• Monitor and control operational compliance, safety, and business standards.
• Support employee training in suggested selling and merchandising techniques.
• Uphold company customer service standards and provide customers with a friendly environment and outstanding service.
• Assist with accurate, regular merchandise inventory counts.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Work in multiple stores in the assigned district as needed.
