About The Position

AlphaBEST is hiring an Assistant Site Director for the Before and Afterschool Program at Florence Bowser Elementary School in Suffolk, Virginia. The role leads a team delivering activities in fitness, the arts, technology, and other areas, and works collaboratively with peers and the Leadership Team to manage the program site. The Assistant Site Director trains Guides, develops interest-based clubs, and fosters a caring, family-oriented environment with positive relationships among staff, children, parents, and the school.

The schedule is 6:30 a.m.–9:15 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.–6:00 p.m. Pay is $18.00 per hour. The position is part-time.

Requirements

• Experience and management in a child group setting.
• A bachelor's degree in a child-related field, such as elementary education, nursing, or recreation; or 48 semester hours or 72 quarter hours of college credit, including 12 semester hours in a child-related subject, and one year of programming experience; or one year of childcare experience, one year of supervisory experience, and 48 semester hours of education credits.
• Provide proof of experience as required by state childcare licensing standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of Guides delivering activities in fitness, the arts, technology, and other areas.
• Work with peers and the Leadership Team to manage all aspects of the program site.
• Train Guides to lead activities that inspire children's sense of wonder.
• Establish clubs that build on students' interests and talents and encourage creativity and intellectual curiosity.
• Foster a caring, family-oriented environment and positive relationships among staff, children, parents, and the school.
