About The Position

The Assistant Salon Manager supports daily salon operations and helps the team succeed while continuing to cut hair. The role combines leadership responsibilities—such as coaching, training, encouraging stylists, and keeping the salon running smoothly—with providing haircuts and welcoming guest service. The position may suit licensed stylists looking to develop leadership skills, whether or not they have prior management experience. Training and ongoing support are provided, including management and operations training through Great Clips University (GCU). The role can offer a pathway to Salon Manager or other leadership positions. Great Clips salons are independently owned and operated by third-party franchisees, who are responsible for hiring and personnel matters.

Requirements

• Valid cosmetology and/or barber license; requirements vary by state or province.
• Strong technical haircutting skills and strong customer service.
• Team-first mindset and desire to encourage and support others.
• Clear communication skills and a positive, motivating attitude.
• Organization and flexibility to help keep the salon running smoothly.
• Interest in developing leadership skills and taking on more responsibility.
