About The Position

This role involves assisting in maximizing the functioning of mentally/physically handicapped adults and ensuring quality services to all residents. The Assistant Residence Manager will assign work assignments to Direct Support Professionals (DSP) and oversee Shift Supervisors. They will provide staff supervision and oversight of the residence in the absence of or in conjunction with the Residence Manager. Collaboration with an interdisciplinary team on treatment/behavioral plans and overall care of individuals within the residence is key. The role may involve other tasks assigned by the Residence Manager that are reasonably related to job responsibilities. The position requires ensuring DSPs complete goals according to method and implementing behavioral support plans when necessary. Attendance at semi-annual, annual, and special meetings at schools and/or day treatment programs, and professional communication with these entities are also expected.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience working in OPWDD related field of which 2 years are in a supervisory capacity.
  • Demonstrated competency in written, verbal and computational skills to document records in accordance with program standards.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule if needed to accommodate working with the individuals in the residence and to attend team meetings.
  • Ability to articulate the company’s philosophy, mission and goals to a varied audience.
  • Ability to effectively present information to clients, top management and staff in verbal and written formats.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical skills such as addition, subtraction, division and multiplication.
  • Ability to solve practical and intellectual problems utilizing principles of logical thinking.
  • Ability to work within general guidelines and minimal supervision.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and execute responsibilities in the face of conflicting priorities or unexpected situations.
  • Ability to recognize the need for confidentiality of information and to maintain such confidences.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services or a related field, preferred.
  • Preferably experience in a residential, health or treatment related setting preferred.

Responsibilities
