About The Position

Guilford College invites applications for a full-time, visiting assistant faculty position in the Physics Department, beginning in August 2027. The position is for one year, with the possibility of renewal. The successful candidate will teach undergraduates in classroom and laboratory settings, including courses for physics majors, general education laboratory courses, and algebra-based introductory physics for life and health science students. Teaching will include three course equivalents per semester; two laboratory sections count as one course. The role may also involve mentoring students in research projects. The position will include teaching experimental physics beyond the first year and electronics for majors and general education students. There may be an opportunity to develop new courses in the candidate’s areas of interest. Guilford is especially interested in candidates with expertise in advanced laboratory, electronics, and optics experimental pedagogy, and encourages applicants interested in cross-disciplinary work. Candidates should provide a description of their teaching interests, particularly their approach to teaching advanced laboratory experimental techniques, in the application’s “other” section. Letters of reference will be requested from finalists.
