About The Position

The Department of Physics at Norfolk State University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Quantum Science, with an emphasis on superconducting quantum circuits and devices. The department offers a B.S. in Physics and an M.S. in Materials Science. The successful candidate will establish an externally funded research program, teach undergraduate and graduate courses, mentor students, collaborate with NSU faculty in quantum science and engineering, develop national and international collaborations, and contribute to the development of a new graduate program in quantum science and engineering. Applicants should submit a research statement describing proposed research at NSU, the experimental or theoretical approaches they would use, and anticipated contributions to superconducting quantum circuits and their applications. Candidates must apply through Workday. Application materials include a State of Virginia application, a cover letter outlining research agenda and teaching interests, a current CV, transcripts of the highest degree conferred, and three letters of reference. Finalists are subject to background checks and must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.
