About The Position

Charleston Southern University’s College of Christian Studies invites applications for an Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor of Christian Studies. The university seeks professing Christians committed to excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service who support a strong liberal arts education and are willing to explore the integration of faith and learning with students. Applicants must belong to a Southern Baptist Church and be able to affirm the Baptist Faith and Message (2000), the Chicago Statement on Biblical Inerrancy, and the Danvers Statement on Biblical Manhood and Womanhood.

The faculty member will teach in-person courses in Church History, Historical Theology, and Old Testament Survey or New Testament Survey. If qualified, the faculty member may also be asked to teach Discipleship. Applicants should live within driving distance of campus. The position is open until filled.

Requirements

• Be a professing Christian and a member of a Southern Baptist Church.
• Be able to affirm the Baptist Faith and Message (2000), the Chicago Statement on Biblical Inerrancy, and the Danvers Statement on Biblical Manhood and Womanhood.
• Hold a terminal degree (Ph.D. preferred, though other applicants may be considered) in Church History, Historical Theology, or an appropriate field of Christian Studies.
• Have eighteen (18) hours of graduate coursework relevant to the courses being taught.
• Provide evidence of successful teaching experience.
• Live within driving distance of campus.
• Submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, and transcripts pertinent to teaching Christian Studies at the university level.

Nice To Haves

• A Ph.D. in Church History, Historical Theology, or an appropriate field of Christian Studies.
• Qualifications to teach Discipleship.

Responsibilities
