The Department of Biology at Boston University’s College of Arts and Sciences invites applications for tenure-track Assistant Professor positions in systems neuroscience and neurobiology of behavior. The successful scholar will use cutting-edge approaches to investigate how neural circuits generate and regulate behavior across a broad range of organismal models. The department is particularly interested in novel approaches for measuring and perturbing activity at large scales, combining molecular tools with functional recording, and relating these approaches to complex behaviors in naturalistic environments. The position is part of Boston University’s university-wide cluster hire in Advancing Brain and Cognitive Health, a major investment in convergent research that brings together innovative ideas, disciplinary expertise, and diverse perspectives. The cluster builds on BU’s strength in Health Across the Lifespan and draws on strengths in neuroscience, engineering, computation, and AI to advance understanding of neural information processing and develop approaches to neurological and psychiatric disease. The successful candidate’s research should complement areas represented in the convergent search, including human neuroimaging, computational neuroscience, brain-computer interfaces, and rehabilitation applications. Boston University’s broader neuroscience community offers opportunities for collaboration across neuroscience, medicine, public health, engineering, data science, and psychology. The university seeks faculty who contribute through innovative scholarship, engaged teaching, and participation in the intellectual life of the University.
