About The Position

The Arch H. Aplin III ’80 Department of Hospitality, Hotel Management and Tourism at Texas A&M University is seeking a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor to begin in Fall 2027. This is a 9-month academic position, with potential for summer appointments, based at the College Station campus. The department, with a 60-year history at a leading R1 institution, focuses on hospitality, hotel management, tourism, and related service industries. We are looking for candidates with innovative and impactful scholarship, open to various areas including technology-enabled service innovation, data-informed decision-making, and complex service systems. The ideal candidate will bring fresh theoretical, methodological, and professional perspectives, with strong potential to advance hospitality and tourism scholarship. They should be capable of high-quality teaching, effective communication with diverse audiences, and meaningful engagement with industry, community, and interdisciplinary partners. The department is highly-rated globally and has a strong record in teaching, research, and public service, with faculty authoring numerous impactful publications and providing international intellectual leadership. The department's mission is to respond to societal needs, generate knowledge about people, environments, and the visitor economy, and advance wellness and prosperity through positive experiences in sustainable settings. A supportive scholarly environment and expanding interdisciplinary collaborations are provided.

Requirements

  • A Ph.D. in Hospitality, Hotel Management and Tourism or a related discipline is required. Current Ph.D. candidates must have the degree in hand by their date of appointment.
  • Evidence-based pedagogical background.
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills through instructional activities and outreach.
  • Meaningful University teaching experience within the advertised field.
  • Must have started a research agenda that has meaningful impacts on our field.

Nice To Haves

  • Substantive professional experience in hospitality, hotel management, tourism, or related service industries is desirable but not required.
  • Candidates who have recently completed their Ph.D. or are near completion, and who demonstrate strong potential for a sustained research program.
  • Clear promise in the pursuit of competitive research funding.
  • Supervising graduate students.
  • Contributing to interdisciplinary research initiatives.
  • Early-career scholars currently in tenure-track or equivalent positions who have begun to establish a record of high-quality publications and external funding.
