Assistant Professor, Psychology (Tenure Track)
About The Position
The Department of Psychology at Elmhurst University invites applications for a tenure-track, assistant professor position with an emphasis in Cognitive Neuroscience, broadly defined, beginning August 2027. The successful candidate will have demonstrated potential for excellence in undergraduate teaching and mentoring, and outstanding potential as a professor in a comprehensive liberal arts setting. The candidate will need to teach upper-level courses related to their area of expertise (including Cognitive Neuroscience), as well as lower-level methodology courses (such as Research Methods in Psychology), and other courses depending on candidate ability and department need as part of a 3/3 load. Preference will be given to candidates who can adapt their research program to a small, liberal arts environment and involve undergraduate students in their research. In addition, faculty are expected to contribute to the Department and University through service activities and advising. The Department of Psychology serves hundreds of majors and minors, participates in the university’s core curriculum, and supports other programs of study including the nursing program and the new neuroscience major. Candidate materials should demonstrate their commitment to creating an inclusive learning environment for a diverse student body.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in psychology (or a related field, e.g., neuroscience)
- ABD with significant progress towards the degree and a completion date prior to August 2027 will also be considered
- Demonstrated potential for excellence in undergraduate teaching and mentoring
- Outstanding potential as a professor in a comprehensive liberal arts setting
