About The Position

The Ohio State University, Department of Statistics, is seeking an Assistant Professor of Teaching Practice (Assistant Professor Clinical). This is a non-tenure track, fixed-term contract position. Clinical faculty are teacher/practitioners primarily engaged in teaching activities and typically hold a doctorate or equivalent experience. This role involves teaching statistics at both undergraduate and graduate levels, fostering innovation in teaching approaches and modern pedagogical methods. Responsibilities include mentoring graduate teaching assistants, developing new courses, contributing to scholarly and service activities, and optionally advising undergraduate and master’s level research.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Statistics, Biostatistics, or a closely-related field by the start of employment
  • Successful completion of a background check

Responsibilities

  • Teaching (in-person and/or online) statistics at both the undergraduate and graduate levels
  • Mentoring and working with graduate teaching assistants
  • Developing new courses
  • Contributing to scholarly and service activities in and beyond the department
  • Optionally advising undergraduate and master’s level research
