About The Position

Point Park University's Department of Psychology is seeking a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Psychology to join their PsyD program in Clinical Psychology. This program is unique in its focus on integrating clinical training with community psychology interventions and a human science mission, incorporating humanistic, psychodynamic, phenomenological, hermeneutic, feminist, and contemplative approaches. The PsyD program is fully accredited by the American Psychological Association. The successful candidate will be a Core Faculty member, dedicating at least 50% of their teaching and/or administrative service to PsyD graduate courses, including clinical courses. Additional teaching opportunities may exist in other departmental programs (MA in Community Psychology, MA in Clinical-Community Counseling Psychology, BA in Psychology and Behavioral Sciences). The university's collective bargaining agreement mandates faculty teach three graduate or four undergraduate classes per semester, with potential for course releases for administrative roles, scholarly activity, and university service. Point Park University is an urban institution located in Downtown Pittsburgh, founded in 1960, with nearly 4,000 students enrolled in over 100 programs.

Requirements

  • Hold a terminal degree (PhD/PsyD) in Psychology.
  • Be licensed or license-eligible as a clinical or counseling psychologist in the state of Pennsylvania.
  • Have teaching, clinical, and research experience.
  • Ability to teach courses in the PsyD program, including Statistics & Quantitative Research, Group Therapy, Program Development Evaluation & Assessment, and Clinical Practicum.
  • Adept at teaching and working with diverse communities of students, faculty, and staff.
  • Able to demonstrate a commitment to the PsyD programs mission and values within a human science perspective.
  • Have experience teaching or a desire to teach in a humanistic and psychodynamic program.
  • Express ways the candidate's clinical training, teaching, and scholarship will complement the program as a whole and integrate well with other faculty in the Department of Psychology.
  • Have authorization to work in the United States and not require employer sponsorship.
