About The Position

The University of Wisconsin School of Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Science Division, Drug Delivery Core invites applications for one 9-month position at the rank of tenure-track Assistant Professor. The faculty member will join a division whose mission is to innovate through cutting-edge research in the pharmaceutical sciences, to educate through didactic and directed research contributions to the Doctor of Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Sciences PhD, and Pharmacology and Toxicology BS programs, and to cultivate a nurturing community that supports scholarship and learning within the School of Pharmacy. The faculty member will be responsible for establishing a high quality, independent, externally funded research program; supervising graduate students; and teaching courses in professional and graduate programs within the School of Pharmacy. PharmD and Pharmaceutical Science graduate program teaching topics may include Drug Delivery Systems for Pharmacotherapy, Pharmaceutical Genetics and Immunotherapy, Polymeric Drug Delivery Systems, and the opportunity to contribute to elective pharmacy courses. The faculty member will contribute to the Pharmaceutical Sciences graduate program with responsibility for graduate student mentorship, teaching, and collaborative scholarship. University, School, and community service will be expected as appropriate. This position is part of the Wisconsin Research, Innovation and Scholarly Excellence (RISE) Initiative, which aims to address complex societal challenges through accelerated faculty hiring, research infrastructure enhancement, interdisciplinary collaboration, and increased student and educational opportunities. RISE will bring 150 new faculty to campus over the next three academic years, fostering a community of scholars working across disciplines. The University will support this community with access to research infrastructure and funding for collaboration. The University of Wisconsin-Madison has also established a new College of Computing and Artificial Intelligence, offering opportunities for collaboration with experts in AI and Machine Learning.

Requirements

  • Minimum of one year of postdoctoral research experience or relevant industrial experience that emphasizes pharmaceutical sciences, drug delivery, biomedical engineering, bioengineering and biomaterials at the time of application
  • Demonstrate potential for establishing an independent and externally funded research program
  • Demonstrate potential for teaching at the PharmD and graduate student level
