About The Position

The Department of Physics, Atmospheric Sciences Program, at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) is seeking applications for a tenure track (9-month) Assistant Professor position. The university is seeking candidates with innovative research agendas that complement and expand current atmospheric science initiatives. Competitive startup funds are available. The position has an expected hire date of July 1, 2027 or after.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Atmospheric Science, Physics or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Mentor undergraduate and graduate students in research and academic advisement.
  • Teach core courses such as Atmospheric Physics, Instrumentation, Dynamical Meteorology, and Radiation Transfer.
  • Potentially teach additional Physics courses.
  • Utilize and oversee established observational infrastructure, including a NASA AERONET sun photometer, a NASA MPLnet lidar, and multispectral photoacoustic instrumentation for measuring aerosol light scattering and absorption.
