About The Position

The School of Management (SOM) at Binghamton University (State University of New York at Binghamton) invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level in Management Information Systems, with an emphasis on Operations and Supply Chain Management, starting mid-August 2027, subject to budgetary approval. The successful candidate will demonstrate potential for excellence in both research and teaching. A key requirement of the position is that the candidate should have appropriate academic training and preparation to teach Operations, Supply Chain Management, and related courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels in a business school environment. The position is housed within the Management Information Systems area. We are especially interested in candidates whose scholarship develops meaningful connections among information systems and operational or organizational processes. Relevant research may examine, for example, technology-enabled operations, artificial intelligence and automation, supply chains, service systems, process innovation, or how emerging technologies transform operational capabilities and organizational processes. We welcome candidates from information systems, operations management, or closely related fields whose research complements the expertise of our existing faculty and contributes to the intellectual community of the MIS area. The anticipated start date for this position is August 16, 2027.

Requirements

• A Ph.D. in business administration with a specialization in management information systems, operations management, or a closely related field, -OR- completion of all degree requirements by the academic year obligation start date (August 16, 2027).
• Demonstrated potential to establish a successful program of scholarly research. Evidence may include published articles, manuscripts under review, working papers, conference presentations, or other research intended for publication in distinguished academic journals.

Nice To Haves

• Research that bridges information systems and operations and supply chain management.
• Experience teaching core Operations Management, technology and operations management, supply chain management, process improvement, or related courses.
• Experience in teaching or developing online courses.

Responsibilities

• Produce original and innovative research suitable for publication in leading academic journals.
• Teach Operations Management and related courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The standard teaching load is 2+2 per academic year.
• Participate actively in the MIS Ph.D. program, including doctoral student mentoring and research development.
• Participate in the development and delivery of the MIS online program and other relevant academic programs.
• Contribute to the School, University, and professional community through committee service, shared governance, academic review activities, and other forms of professional engagement.
