About The Position

California State Polytechnic University, Pomona (Cal Poly Pomona) is seeking applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the Department of Electromechanical Engineering Technology, starting Fall 2027. Cal Poly Pomona is a polytechnic university known for its learn-by-doing approach and commitment to experiential learning. The university is situated in a scenic 1,400-acre campus, located less than 30 miles east of downtown Los Angeles. The university is recognized for its diversity, serving a large population of first-generation, financially aided, and underrepresented students. The College of Engineering, where the department resides, is highly ranked and offers numerous ABET-accredited undergraduate and master's degrees. The Electromechanical Engineering Technology Department specifically focuses on hands-on learning and offers two undergraduate programs: Electromechanical Systems Engineering Technology (EMSET) and Electronic Systems Engineering Technology (ESET). Requirements

  • Ph.D. or Sc.D. in Electrical Engineering, or a closely aligned field, conferred by the start date of the position.

  • Ability to demonstrate excellent teaching, and develop and support Electronic System Engineering Technology laboratories.

  • Industrial experience in the electronics areas that will enhance teaching and scholarly activity and help in developing industry contacts.
  • Demonstrated ability for authoring peer-reviewed publications and scholarly activity involving students.

Responsibilities

  • Teach a broad range of Electronic Systems Engineering Technology courses.
  • Teach relevant Electromechanical Systems Engineering Technology courses, such as Electronic Devices, Digital Electronics, Electronic Networks, and Microcontrollers.
  • Update and develop new lecture and laboratory courses in the areas of electronics systems and devices or signal processing.
  • Potentially teach or develop courses in Communication Systems (Analog/RF, Microwave, Digital/Data Systems), Industrial Electronic Systems, Robotics and Motion Control Systems Design, and AI in Undergraduate Engineering Education.
  • Involve students in scholarly activities.
  • Demonstrate excellent teaching, scholarly activity, written and oral communication skills.
