The Department of Russian and East Asian Languages and Cultures (REALC) at Emory University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Korean Studies, made possible through the generous support of the Korea Foundation, to begin in Fall 2027. The research field and period are open, and applicants with backgrounds in the humanities and/or humanistic social sciences, including literature, gender studies, media and cultural studies, religion, history, anthropology, and sociology, are encouraged to apply. The department is particularly interested in candidates whose scholarship is inter-disciplinary and inter-regional (within East Asia and beyond) to complement a dynamic and multidisciplinary community of scholars within REALC specializing in Korea, China, Japan, and Russia. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain an active research profile and will have a 2-2 teaching load, including survey courses on Korea/East Asia and courses informed by their research expertise and departmental needs. Engagement in departmental activities and contributions at the college and university levels are also expected.
