The Department of Electrical Engineering (EE) in the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at The Pennsylvania State University, University Park, PA invites applications for a faculty position at the level of Assistant Professor. Applicants should have qualifications commensurate with the level of Assistant Professor, including a demonstrated excellent track record in scholarship and education, recognition from the research community, and the promise of continued distinction. Exceptional candidates are sought for this position covering a broad range of research in the areas of microwave and millimeter wave devices, microwave/mmWave integrated circuit design, and systems. The successful candidate will be expected to establish and sustain an outstanding research program and to be effective, inspiring teachers at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The successful candidate will be co-funded by the Materials Research Institute (MRI) at Penn State, which coordinates interdisciplinary research across the university. The successful candidate will have opportunities to interact with and benefit from new devices and systems packaging, with institutional strengths in materials under programs such as the National Science Foundation Materials Innovation Platform 2D Crystal Consortium and a Department of Energy Frontier Research Center focused on three-dimensional integration of ferroelectric materials, among many other opportunities. The EE Department has 38 tenured/tenure-track faculty members, with average annual research expenditures of $15 million. The undergraduate (juniors and seniors) and graduate programs enroll over 500 and 250 students, respectively. The department is also home to the Center for Heterogeneous Integration of Micro Electronic Systems (CHIMES), a JUMP 2.0 center supported by the Semiconductor Research Corporation (SRC) and DARPA. The Materials Research Institute supports a university-wide community of approximately 270 affiliated faculty spanning 30 departments. MRI operates three shared user facilities, the Materials Characterization Lab, a 15,000 sq.ft.
