Assistant Professor Clinical Practice - Family Medicine
About The Position
The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB Health) is seeking an Assistant Professor for its Department of Family Medicine. This position is primarily clinical (90%) with a 10% educational component. The successful candidate will provide direct patient care, primarily at Galveston Island locations, and will also teach and supervise Family Medicine residents. Responsibilities may include on-call duties (evenings and weekends), precepting medical students, and covering other clinical services as needed. The role may involve providing comprehensive health care within a patient-centered medical home model. The faculty member will practice mainly at the Island West Clinic but may rotate to other clinics (Island West, Dickinson Family Medicine) based on departmental needs.
Requirements
- MD or DO degree
- A strong commitment to research, patient care, medical student, and resident education.
- U.S. Citizenship or Employment Authorization to work in the U.S.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in clinic settings, primarily on Galveston Island.
- Teach and supervise Family Medicine residents.
- Share on-call responsibilities, including evening and weekend hours.
- Precept medical students.
- Cover other clinical services as needed.
- Provide comprehensive health care within a patient-centered medical home clinical model.
- Rotate through Island West (IW) or Dickinson Family Medicine Clinics as departmental need arises.
