About The Position

Emory University's Division of Hospital Medicine is hiring an inpatient Hospital Medicine faculty physician in the Department of Medicine. The position includes professional service, teaching, and scholarship. More than 75% of professional effort is devoted to professional service, while 1% to 25% is devoted to teaching and 1% to 25% to scholarly activities. The role is performed in person at an Emory University location; remote work is not an option. Emory may change this status with notice to the employee.

The direct supervisor is Dr. Daniel Hunt, MD, FACP, with the position ultimately reporting to the Chair of the Department of Medicine.

Responsibilities

• Perform history and physical examinations for patients being admitted to the hospital.
• Assess hospitalized patients' acuity and ensure an appropriate level of care.
• Perform bedside procedures as needed and when credentialed to do so.
• Provide consultation services for specialty provider partners and request consultations from those partners.
• Initiate contact with outpatient primary care providers and teams to support continuity of care.
• Participate in scholarly activities, such as manuscript authorship, research studies, abstract presentations, professional blogs, and other scholarship.
• Participate in teaching, including occasional lectures, small-group and bedside teaching, preceptorship, and mentorship.
• Work with trainees, which may include allied health professionals, during some months.
