About The Position

The McGill University Department of Medicine in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences invites applications for a full-time position as a Clinician-Educator at the rank of Assistant Professor based at the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC). This is a Contract Academic Staff position and does not confer eligibility for tenure. The Department of Medicine within the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences is a leader in academic medicine. Our educational and research missions support excellence and innovative clinical programs across the network of teaching hospitals. The McGill University Health Centre is one of McGill’s major teaching hospitals affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Canada’s internationally renowned McGill University, located in the vibrant and multicultural city of Montreal, in the province of Quebec. The Division is recognized nationally and internationally as a leading centre for research in drug allergy, reproductive immunology, and immunodeficiency, among other immune-related pathologies. Our research portfolio spans the full spectrum from basic mechanistic science to clinical trials and health outcomes research. In medical education, the Division hosts one of the largest Allergy & Immunology training programs in Canada, offering a cutting-edge curriculum informed by the latest advances in clinical and translational immunology. The Division also supports four post-doctoral training programs, reflecting our deep commitment to the development of the next generation of academic clinicians and scientists. The Division of Clinical Immunology & Allergy at the MUHC is a comprehensive and highly active academic division comprising seven full-time physicians and three basic scientists with clinical and research practices distributed across three main MUHC sites: the Montreal General Hospital, the Royal Victoria Hospital, and the MUHC-Research Institute. The clinical team collaborates closely with our basic scientists, fostering a rich environment of translational investigation.

Requirements

  • Hold an MD degree
  • Have completed specialty training in Internal Medicine and Clinical Immunology & Allergy
  • Be certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (or equivalent) in Clinical Immunology & Allergy
  • Be eligible for licensure in Quebec and hold certification by the Collège des médecins du Québec
  • Have or be pursuing at least one additional year of post-graduate training in the area of Medical Education
  • Bilingual language skills (French and English) are preferred, or a commitment to acquire the necessary language skills to practice medicine in Quebec.
  • Candidates should be able to interact in English and in French with patients, families and health care professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Focus on education research of sufficient caliber to publish in peer-reviewed journals or education administration with a focus on leading/developing world-class training programs.
  • Focus on curriculum development and enhancement.
  • Clinical responsibilities will include outpatient clinics in Clinical Immunology and Allergy, on-call coverage for the Allergy and Immunology inpatient and consultative service, and inpatient consultation and management of complex immune-mediated conditions as required.
  • Teaching and supervising residents and clinical fellows in the outpatient clinic setting and during academic half-days.
  • Contributing to the design, delivery, and evaluation of the Division’s Allergy and Immunology training curriculum.
  • Attending and presenting at divisional rounds, departmental grand rounds, and other academic activities.
  • Mentoring trainees across the Division’s fellowship and post-doctoral programs.
  • Contributing to medical student education through the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences.
  • Actively involved in relevant aspects of McGill’s academic mission (e.g., research, teaching, supervision of students and residents and involvement in academic and administrative committees).
  • Contribute to service activities within their units, the University, and the wider scholarly community.
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion is also expected.
