About The Position

The McGill University Department of Medicine in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences invites applications for a full-time position at the rank of Associate or Full Professor (Clinical) as a member of the Contract Academic Staff, based at the Jewish General Hospital (JGH). The professorial rank will be determined according to the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience. This is a Contract Academic Staff position and does not confer eligibility for tenure. The incumbent will also be the Director of the Division of Endocrinology at the JGH. The JGH is one of McGill’s major teaching hospitals affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Canada’s internationally renowned McGill University, located in the vibrant and multicultural city of Montreal, in the province of Quebec. The Department of Medicine (DOM) is a leader in academic medicine, our educational and research missions support excellent and innovative clinical programs across our teaching hospitals. The Department is seeking a transformational leader who will take a high performing Division to the next level of clinical and academic excellence. The successful candidate will have a clear vision of the evolving nature of Endocrinology and Metabolism, a demonstrated ability to communicate that vision, the skill to encourage others to share it, and be an accomplished leader in academic medicine. Prospective candidates will have a proven academic track-record in basic and/or clinical research. The Division of Endocrinology at the JGH is a dynamic, innovative unit with strong basic and clinical research programs in diabetes, lipids, human genetics, epidemiology, bone biology, thyroid disease, pharmacoepidemiology, and androgen signaling, amongst others. We are a group of dedicated academic clinicians who provide high-quality patient centered care for patients and support high-caliber teaching programs within the field of Endocrinology. We are seeking a skilled endocrinologist who demonstrates an outstanding balance of rigorous academic accomplishments and superior clinical skills to lead and shape our cutting-edge programs. Your expertise in academic endocrinology will drive innovative research, advance patient care, and foster excellence in medical education. Applicants are encouraged to simultaneously apply to, and be considered for, the McGill Director of the Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism, although this is not required.

Requirements

  • Hold an MD degree and must have completed subspecialty training in Endocrinology and Metabolism.
  • Be certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (or equivalent).
  • Be eligible for licensure in Quebec and certification by the Collège des médecins du Québec.
  • Have relevant leadership experience.
  • Demonstrate internationally recognized academic accomplishment in Endocrinology research and teaching.
  • Have exceptional clinical expertise suited to tertiary hospital settings, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality patient care.
  • Have extensive experience in training, mentoring, and supervising students, residents, and fellows in clinical and academic settings.
  • Bilingual language skills (French and English) are preferred, or a commitment to acquire the necessary language skills to practice medicine in Quebec.
  • Candidates should be able to interact in English and in French with patients, families and health care professionals.
