About The Position

The McGill University Department of Medicine in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences invites applications for a full-time position as a member of the Contract Academic Staff as a Clinician-Teacher or Clinician-Educator at the rank of Assistant Professor (Clinical) based at the Jewish General Hospital (JGH). This is a Contract Academic Staff position and does not confer eligibility for tenure. The Department of Medicine is a leader in academic medicine, supporting excellent and innovative clinical programs. The JGH is one of McGill’s major teaching hospitals. The McGill Division of Respiratory Medicine is committed to excellence in clinical care, research, and medical education, with a focus on recruiting outstanding sub-specialists. The JGH Division of Pulmonary Medicine provides high-quality patient-centered care with programs in clinical care, medical education, quality improvement, and medical research. Their focus is on patients with acute and complex pulmonary medical disorders, with specific clinical programs in airway diseases (asthma, COPD), pulmonary rehabilitation, tuberculosis, sleep disorders, thoracic oncology, thrombosis medicine, interventional pulmonology, and pulmonary hypertension. The division is dedicated to expanding its airway centre and research initiatives at both JGH and Mt. Sinai hospitals.

Requirements

  • Hold an MD degree.
  • Completed subspecialty training in Adult Respirology.
  • Certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Adult Respirology.
  • Eligible for licensure in Quebec and hold certification by the Collège des médecins du Québec.
  • Further advanced training in severe asthma, severe COPD, biologic therapy, and chronic cough.
  • Ability to interact in English and French with patients, families, and health care professionals.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual language skills (French and English) are preferred, or a commitment to acquire these language skills at the level needed to practice medicine in Quebec.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the Division’s consultation services.
  • Participate in and grow the outpatient airway centre at both the JGH and Mt. Sinai hospitals, including asthma, COPD, and chronic cough clinics.
  • Cover and round on the inpatient pulmonary rehabilitation service at Mt. Sinai hospital.
  • Be actively involved in relevant aspects of McGill’s academic mission, including teaching and supervision of clinical trainees and involvement in academic and administrative committees.
  • Be involved in clinical research and quality improvement.
  • Contribute to service activities within their units, the University, and the wider scholarly community.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
