About The Position

Calvin University seeks an Assistant Professor - Business Analytics to provide leadership in designing a new BS in Business Analytics program. This role involves shaping a curriculum that prepares students to strategically use technologies for data collection, storage, analysis (from foundational statistics to machine learning), and communication (data visualization). The program aims to foster strong industry relationships.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. (or foreign academic equivalent) in Business Analytics, Information Systems, Data Science, Business Statistics, or a related business discipline.
  • Alternatively, Master's (or foreign academic equivalent) in Business Analytics, Information Systems, Data Science, Business Statistics, or a related business discipline and 5 years of experience in the job offered or related.
  • Experience teaching at the Undergraduate or Master's level.
  • Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning.
  • Experience with AI usage in Business.
  • Legal right to work in the U.S.
  • Commitment to the educational mission of Calvin as a Christian liberal arts university affiliated with the Christian Reformed Church.

  • Ability to holistically design a program that prepares future business professionals to strategically plan applying the full breadth of technologies for data collection (e.g. IoT, RFID, Social Media etc.), data storage (RDBMS, NoSQL), analysis from foundational statistical methods to machine learning and communication through written, oral and visual means (i.e. data visualization).
  • Ability to establish a symbiotic relationship with a broad range of industries.

Responsibilities

  • Teach 24 semester hours per academic year.
  • Pursue an active scholarly agenda.
  • Teach effectively.
  • Advise students.
  • Serve the university, department, students, and the wider community.
  • Engage actively with professional associations and learned societies (e.g., INFORMS, ACM, AAA, ASA, CTO Division of Academy of Management).
