About The Position

Calvin University invites applicants for a full time Assistant Professor – Business Analytics within the School of Business. We desire an individual who is willing to form a vision for the future of our new BS in Business Analytics. This is an opportunity to provide leadership to holistically design a program that prepares future business professionals to strategically plan applying the full breadth of technologies for data collection (e.g. IoT, RFID, Social Media etc.), data storage (RDBMS, NoSQL), analysis from foundational statistical methods to machine learning and communication through written, oral and visual means (i.e. data visualization). In addition, we strive for a program that establishes a symbiotic relationship with a broad range of industries.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. (or foreign academic equivalent) in Business Analytics, Information Systems, Data Science, Business Statistics, or a related business discipline.
  • Alternatively, Master's (or foreign academic equivalent) in Business Analytics, Information Systems, Data Science, Business Statistics, or a related business discipline and 5 years of experience in the job offered or related.
  • Experience teaching at the Undergraduate or Master's level.
  • Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning.
  • Experience with AI usage in Business.
  • Any suitable combination of education, training, or experience is acceptable.
  • Commitment to the educational mission of Calvin as a Christian liberal arts university affiliated with the Christian Reformed Church.
  • A commitment to the Christian faith and to the integration of faith, learning, and student development.
  • Demonstrated awareness and commitment to effectively establishing relationships and positive communication across multiple dimensions of diversity including, but not limited to, race, gender, physical limitations, class, or religious perspectives.
  • Legal right to work in U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Teach 24 semester hours per academic year.
  • Pursue an active scholarly agenda.
  • Teach effectively.
  • Advise students well.
  • Serve the university, department, students, and the wider community.
  • Engage actively with professional associations and learned societies, e.g., Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS), Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), American Accounting Association (AAA), American Statistical Association (ASA) and The Academy of Management’s “Communication, Digital Technology, and Organization” (CTO) Division.
