About The Position

The Assistant Produce Manager helps oversee daily produce department operations, focusing on freshness, quality, merchandising, inventory control, sales, and customer service. The role supports department standards for product handling and presentation, helps lead and develop associates, and contributes to a positive team environment. It is a fast-paced, hands-on position that may require assuming responsibility for department operations when the Produce Manager is absent. Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays, is required.

• Knowledge of retail merchandising, promotional execution, store systems, and inventory tools.
• Ability to review sales, shrink, and inventory data to drive results.
• Ability to train and develop associates.
• Ability to lift, move, and stack product and work in coolers and refrigerated environments.
• Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays.
• Reliable attendance and compliance with company policies, food safety standards, and the Code of Business Conduct.

Responsibilities

• Help oversee daily Produce Department operations with a focus on freshness, quality, and customer service.
• Provide knowledgeable, friendly service and ensure associates demonstrate strong product knowledge.
• Assist with executing corporate merchandising programs, planograms, seasonal sets, and promotional displays.
• Maintain full, fresh, clean, and visually appealing produce displays.
• Assist with product rotation, removing damaged or unsellable items, and maintaining freshness standards.
• Assist with ordering, receiving, inspecting, and storing products according to food safety and rotation guidelines.
• Help manage shrink through inventory controls, root-cause identification, and waste-reduction strategies.
• Assist with building and managing labor schedules aligned with business needs.
• Assist with training, coaching, and developing produce associates while maintaining a positive team environment.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, safety, and company operational standards.
• Perform Produce Department duties as needed and assume responsibility for department operations in the absence of the Produce Manager.
