About The Position

The Assistant Parts Manager provides support to the management of the Parts Department at Rush Truck Centers, a network of commercial vehicle dealerships representing truck and bus manufacturers. The role supports department operations, assists customers with parts purchases, and helps manage inventory and orders. The employee may also be asked to follow other instructions and perform additional duties requested by their leader.

Requirements

High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
Three months’ experience in parts department functions.
Computer literacy and ability to perform all data-entry functions required in the department.
Valid driver’s license and insurability.

Responsibilities

Supervise employees engaged in sales work, taking inventories, and keeping operating records, or perform subordinate work as needed.
Assist customers in selecting required parts in a friendly, professional, and efficient manner.
Inform customers of companion part requirements and specials, and ensure customers are exposed to the full product line.
Act as liaison between operations and corporate Centralized Purchasing in the Parts Manager’s absence.
Review Managed Dealer Inventory (MDI) daily orders in the Parts Manager’s absence.
Answer phone calls and provide price quotes and other information.
Pull and fill orders from stock.
Notify the Parts Manager of out-of-stock parts or shop materials requiring immediate attention.
Notify the service technician, shop foreman, and customer when special-ordered parts are received.
Assist with receiving daily stock orders.
Follow other instructions and perform other duties requested by the employee’s leader.
