About The Position

The Department of Pediatrics at McGill University is seeking to fill a full-time Contract Academic Staff position as a Clinician-Educator at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor (Clinical). The successful candidate will be based at the Montreal Children’s Hospital (MCH) of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC). This is a contract faculty position without tenure eligibility. The rank will be determined by the candidate's qualifications and experience. The Department of Pediatrics is a leader in academic medicine, supporting excellent and innovative clinical programs across its teaching hospitals. The MCH is a major teaching hospital affiliated with McGill University's Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. The Division of General Pediatrics has 40 members working in various areas including Developmental Pediatrics, Inpatient Pediatrics, Newborn Medicine, Complex Care, Medical Day Hospital, and Northern and Indigenous Child Health. The Division has academic strengths in medical education, epidemiology, health services and quality improvement research, and knowledge translation research. The Developmental Pediatrics program is part of the integrated Brain, Development, and Behaviour network, with specialized programs for early developmental impairment, autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, specific learning disorders, gender variance, and fetal alcohol spectrum disorders.

Requirements

  • Hold an MD degree or equivalent.
  • Have postgraduate clinical training in Pediatrics.
  • Have completed specialty training in Developmental Pediatrics with certification by the Collège des médecins du Québec or Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (or equivalent).
  • Hold or be eligible for licensure to practice medicine from the Collège des médecins du Québec.
  • Bilingual language skills (French and English) are preferred, or a commitment to acquire the necessary language skills to practice medicine in Quebec.
  • Ability to interact in English and in French with patients, families, and health care professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute as a full member of the Division of General Pediatrics with a focus on Developmental Pediatric care.
  • Hold a principal role in the Developmental Pediatrics Program.
  • Be an active physician member of the Division of General Pediatrics at the Montreal Children’s Hospital, MUHC.
  • Provide excellent clinical teaching and supervision to undergraduate medical students, residents, and fellows.
  • Contribute to departmental and divisional academic activities such as research, teaching, quality improvement, and program development.
  • Contribute to service activities within their units, the University, and the wider scholarly community.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
