About The Position

The Assistant Nurse Manager is an opportunity for a nursing professional to support patient care and services while developing their nursing practice. The role uses independent clinical decision-making and combines administrative functions with direct patient care. The position is based at MultiCare Deaconess Hospital, a 388-bed acute-care hospital serving the greater Spokane region. The schedule is five 8-hour shifts per week with variable shifts; the position is exempt.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, or obtain one within five years of the initial hire date. An RN with 15 or more years of service, or an internal candidate hired before January 1, 2021, may be considered as satisfying this requirement in lieu of an education agreement.
• Current Washington State Registered Nurse license or Multistate License endorsement.
• Current BLS certification.
• Two years of clinical experience in a professional or technical role/function.
• Previous experience and demonstrated skills in a supervisory or lead capacity.

Nice To Haves

• Advanced degree in Nursing (MSN, PhD, DNP, or ARNP).
• Certification in a clinical specialty.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate patient care personnel in the assigned clinical area and/or facility to meet patient care requirements, following physician instructions, MultiCare Health System policies, and approved patient care standards.
• Perform hybrid functions across administrative and patient care services.
• Execute tasks assigned according to the clinical area of specialty.
• Recommend new or revised unit methods for defining quality management goals.
