RN OBGYN Assistant Manager
About The Position
A physician-owned OB/GYN practice in Virginia Beach is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join its leadership team as an Assistant Nurse Manager. This hands-on clinical and supervisory role works closely with the Nurse Manager, Administrator, physicians, and clinical leadership to coordinate and strengthen daily nursing operations across multiple departments and locations. The position is primarily in an outpatient clinical setting, with coordination with inpatient and OB workflows as needed. It offers mentoring and development, with a possible succession pathway into nurse management for high performers.
Requirements
- Active RN license in Virginia or eligibility for one.
- Current CPR certification.
- Significant OB/GYN nursing experience, including outpatient clinic and inpatient/L&D or hospital-based experience.
- Strong judgment and discretion, with a calm, solutions-oriented approach to leadership.
- Organization, reliability, and comfort managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced clinical environment.
- Collaborative communication skills and ability to build trust with physicians, clinical staff, and patients.
Nice To Haves
- Prior leadership experience, such as charge nurse, preceptor, lead RN, or supervisor.
Responsibilities
- Support daily staffing coverage and clinical flow across the practice.
- Assist with interviewing, onboarding, training, coaching, and performance support for nursing staff.
- Partner on quality, safety, and compliance initiatives, including OSHA, CLIA, and other applicable standards.
- Help maintain clinical protocols, documentation standards, and EMR order sets and encounter tools.
- Serve as a problem solver for clinical staff and patient-care workflow issues.
- Participate in regular operational meetings and special projects related to clinical services and patient experience.
- Support equipment readiness and coordinate repairs or maintenance as needed.
- Reinforce adherence to practice standards and applicable accreditation and quality expectations.
