About The Position

The Assistant General Manager assists with overseeing gym operations to provide an exceptional “Judgement Free” member experience and support a financially successful club. The role supports the Club Manager and helps lead staff and daily operations at Planet Fitness. Candidates should expect to work five days per week, approximately 40 to 45 hours depending on hourly or salary status.

Requirements

• Superior customer service skills, preferably in the fitness industry.
• Solid supervisory, diplomacy, and listening skills.
• Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Suite.
• Hard-working, enthusiastic, and energetic.
• Strong problem-resolution skills.
• Current CPR certification is required; it may be completed upon hire.
• High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
• Must be at least 18 years old.

Nice To Haves

• Experience as a Member Service Representative at Planet Fitness is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with recruiting, hiring, training, and developing Member Service Representatives, Trainers, and Custodians.
• Help maintain a welcoming atmosphere for members, prospective members, and guests, and ensure staff follow customer service guidelines.
• Assist with staff management and provide backup support to the Club Manager as needed.
• Assist with scheduling and supervising staff.
• Oversee member service and ensure staff provide a superior customer experience.
• Help resolve or escalate employee issues and concerns.
• Perform front desk activities, including answering phones and assisting callers.
• Sign up new members and give tours to prospective members.
• Handle member requests, issues, and questions.
• Help oversee facility cleanliness and maintenance.
• Assist with ordering supplies within the club's budget.
• Assist with tracking weekly, monthly, and annual statistics and reports.
• Provide backup support when an employee is absent.
