The Assistant Manager is responsible for everything that happens during a shift, including cost, inventory, and cash controls and customer relations. The role sets an example for the crew by following company policies and procedures and expecting the same from team members. The position also involves staffing, paperwork, food management, scheduling, maintaining store standards and cleanliness, marketing, profitability, attendance, punctuality, and transportation to and from work. The Assistant Manager performs general store-team duties as needed, including operating equipment, stocking ingredients and supplies, preparing products, processing telephone orders, taking inventory, completing paperwork, and cleaning equipment and the facility. On-the-job orientation and training are provided. The work may involve delivering products and flyers or door hangers, with access to an insured vehicle and a valid driver's license required for delivery duties. The position involves standing and walking for much of the work, handling and carrying supplies and food, and may require lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds, reaching, bending, crouching, pushing or pulling trays, and climbing stairs or ladders. Work conditions include changing temperatures, hot equipment, sharp edges and moving parts, food odors, cornmeal dust, cramped spaces, and varying weather conditions. Team members must be able to communicate with customers and coworkers, handle order-entry equipment, perform basic arithmetic, and work under stress while meeting quality standards.
