About The Position
Best Friends Pet Care is seeking a dedicated, energetic Assistant Center Manager to support the Center Manager and help lead a team in providing a safe, fun environment for pets and their owners. The Assistant Center Manager partners with the Center Manager to oversee daily operations and maintain pet-care standards, and leads facility operations in the Center Manager’s absence. The role supports facility cleanliness, safety, and compliance; inventory, payroll, scheduling, and administrative processes; and recruiting, training, mentoring, and professional development for team members. It also involves building relationships with clients, responding to their questions and feedback, supporting community outreach and marketing, and supervising boarding, daycare, and grooming services. The position is full-time in Gardena, California, with an hourly pay range of $25 to $28. Incentives and overtime opportunities may be available where applicable. The work environment is active and involves animals; the posting says the employee must be able to lift large dogs.
Responsibilities
- Partner with the Center Manager to oversee daily operations and maintain Best Friends Pet Care standards of pet care.
- Lead operations in the Center Manager’s absence.
- Ensure the facility meets cleanliness, safety, and compliance standards.
- Assist with inventory management, stocking supplies, and managing expenses.
- Support payroll processes, scheduling, and daily administrative tasks.
- Assist with recruiting, training, mentoring, and shadowing team members.
- Help create work schedules that balance business needs and team well-being.
- Promote staff professional development and positive morale.
- Build trusting relationships with pet parents and respond professionally and enthusiastically to client inquiries, feedback, and requests.
- Collaborate on community outreach, promotions, and marketing efforts.
- Oversee pet boarding, daycare, and grooming services to help ensure pets are safe and well cared for.
- Monitor pet behavior and address concerns promptly and compassionately.
- Maintain detailed records of pet care, incidents, and daily routines.
