About The Position

The Assistant Manager assists and consults with the Store Manager on overall store operations and administrative duties, including determining approaches for achieving store goals. The role requires knowledge of each product area or department, adherence to company policies and visual standards, and a commitment to outstanding customer service and promoting merchandise. The Assistant Manager is trained in Store Manager responsibilities and assumes supervisory control of the store when the Store Manager is absent. The role supports asset protection, personnel activities, inventory and sales oversight, merchandising, scheduling, and daily store administration. In the Store Manager’s absence, the Assistant Manager supervises employees, directs work, and helps resolve problems in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.

Requirements

Retail environment experience; footwear and athletic apparel experience is preferred.
1–3 years of customer service experience.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to assist in managing a team and keep up with overall goals and profits.
Self-starter with initiative to take on important tasks without being asked.
Strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and precisely.
Team player passionate about outstanding customer service and selling merchandise.

Responsibilities

Assist the Store Manager in controlling company assets.
Consult with the Store Manager on action plans for selling, restocking, merchandising, ordering, scheduling, and other departmental and store responsibilities.
Assume responsibility for the entire store in the Store Manager’s absence.
Assist with personnel recruiting, training, and evaluation.
Provide knowledge and guidance to employees and customers across departments as needed.
Monitor inventory, sales statistics, and expenses to support profitability across departments.
Direct staff to ensure departmental responsibilities and standards are completed.
Keep the Store Manager informed about inventory movement and customer trends.
Ensure quality customer service is maintained, including helping customers as they enter and assisting multiple customers during peak periods.
Promote and sell company services and merchandise.
Follow company policies, procedures, and standards, including those in the operations, personnel, visual, and customer service manuals and company memos.
Protect company assets and financial information by ensuring internal control procedures are accurate and effective, and report potential fraud risks to management or appropriate officials.
Perform general administrative duties and train in Store Manager responsibilities.
Supervise employees in the Store Manager’s absence, including interviewing and training employees, planning, assigning and directing work, and resolving problems.
