About The Position
The Assistant Manager manages the daily operations of a fast-paced retail store, supporting smooth and efficient processes across customer service, inventory management, sales, merchandising, and store operations. The role focuses on providing customers with a positive, welcoming shopping experience while maintaining a productive work environment for staff. The position reports to the Store Manager, who evaluates performance annually. The Assistant Manager supervises Custodians, Drive Thru Ambassadors, Sales Production Associates, and Textile Sales Associates. Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent, or the ability to obtain one through The Excel Center.
- Strong supervisory skills, including the ability to inspire, motivate, and hold team members accountable.
- Ability to foster a positive and productive work environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with employees, customers, and management.
- Skill in resolving customer concerns and commitment to customer service and satisfaction.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screen.
- Reliable transportation, a current driver's license, and proof of insurance to travel to different job sites.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- Flexible availability, including nights and weekends.
- Ability to frequently bend, twist, reach above shoulder level, push and pull, crouch or stoop, kneel, repetitively use feet, and use the head and neck in twisting or static motions while looking up or down.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to use standard office and light industrial equipment effectively and safely.
Responsibilities
- Participate in recruiting and hiring qualified candidates to build a competent and diverse team.
- Develop and implement training to ensure staff understand company policies, procedures, and customer service standards.
- Monitor employee performance and provide constructive feedback and coaching.
- Take appropriate disciplinary action when necessary to maintain standards of conduct and performance.
- Supervise and coordinate daily store operations, including inventory, merchandising, sales floor operations, and customer service.
- Coordinate departments to achieve business goals, improve workflow efficiency, and provide an exceptional customer experience.
- Establish and enforce safety protocols for employees and customers.
- Monitor potential security risks, including internal theft and shoplifting, and take proactive steps to mitigate them.
- Promote staff awareness of and compliance with safety practices.
- Communicate with the Store Manager about store operations, staff performance, and challenges.
- Participate in regular meetings about store performance and improvement strategies.
- Help develop and implement corrective action plans for operational issues, and monitor their execution and outcomes.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
